The Science Behind Arctic Composure

Composure when you need it. Resilience when you build it.

Stress isn’t only a momentary problem. Arctic Composure was designed around two goals: support calm, focused attention when pressure is high—and support a more resilient response to everyday stress with consistent use over time.

We started with clinically studied L‑theanine, already widely used in the U.S. for calm, focused attention. Then we searched globally for ingredients with something harder to find: meaningful human clinical evidence for both short‑term composure and longer‑term stress resilience.

That led us to L. gasseri CP2305, a Japanese postbiotic studied for acute and sustained stress response, and a probiotic combination of L. helveticus R0052 and B. longum R0175, studied in humans during periods of ongoing everyday stress.

A probiotic—for stress resilience?

Yes. Your brain really does listen to your gut.

Your gut and brain communicate constantly—which is why stress can produce butterflies or an upset stomach. That communication works in both directions.

Your microbiome helps generate signals that reach the brain through the nervous system, immune system, hormones, and microbial compounds. These pathways can influence mood and how you respond to stress.*

The specific probiotic strains L. helveticus R0052 and B. longum R0175, and the postbiotic L. gasseri CP2305, have produced measurable improvements in human studies—including measures of everyday stress, emotional balance, relaxation-related brain activity, and resilience during sustained pressure.*

Diagram of the gut-brain connection: signals travel between the gut and brain along the vagus nerve, and through cortisol, cytokines, and microbial metabolites like SCFAs and tryptophan.

Two time horizons. Four clinically studied ingredients.

In acute human studies, within 60 minutes L‑theanine improved attention and focus and lowered salivary cortisol, while L. gasseri CP2305 increased alpha‑wave activity and parasympathetic activity and lowered mental‑stress and tension–anxiety scores.*

With consistent daily use, the R0052 and R0175 probiotic strains reduced cortisol levels and improved psychological‑distress measures. In medical students subjected to sustained high pressure over time, CP2305 reduced anxiety and sleep disturbance.*

L‑Theanine

A familiar starting point.

31 Randomized Trials · 1,168 Participants

L‑theanine is widely used for calm, focused attention without sedation. A recent systematic review and meta‑analysis examined 31 randomized trials involving 1,168 participants across stress, attention and cognitive outcomes.

In acute testing, a single 200 mg dose taken 30–60 minutes before testing significantly improved choice reaction time.*

In a separate randomized, placebo‑controlled crossover study, a single 200 mg dose significantly lowered salivary cortisol within 60 minutes compared with placebo.*

L. gasseri CP2305

A different approach to composure—from Japan.

8+ Randomized Human Trials

CP2305 is a heat‑treated postbiotic that produced measurable changes in brain activity, autonomic activity, and self‑reported stress levels in a randomized human trial.*

Human clinical studies of L. gasseri CP2305 have examined its effects on brain activity, parasympathetic activity and mental‑stress measures after a single dose, and on stress response after daily use for up to 24 weeks.*

Because composure isn’t only about the next hour.

5+ Randomized Human Trials

This probiotic combination pairs Lactobacillus helveticus R0052 and Bifidobacterium longum R0175—the same two strains used together in randomized human trials that reported improvements in psychological‑distress and stress‑related measures.

In a randomized, placebo‑controlled study, 30 days of these strains significantly improved several psychological‑distress measures and reduced cortisol compared with placebo.*

Why it matters: these strains add the longer‑term dimension to Arctic Composure, with human research examining consistent use during periods of everyday stress.

Beyond ordinary stress support.

L‑theanine gives Arctic Composure a clinically studied, familiar foundation. L. gasseri CP2305 adds an unusual Japanese postbiotic with human research spanning acute and longer‑term stress. the L. helveticus R0052 and B. longum R0175 probiotic strains add clinical research for the consistent‑use side of the formula.

Different ingredients. Different research. One purpose: support greater composure today while building resilience over time.
